“During tonight's State of the Union address, President Biden delivered a powerful call to action to the nation's healthcare industry and health information technology ecosystems. NHIT applauds President Biden renewed commitment to bridging the health equity gap through meaningful investments in high-speed internet infrastructure and access, cutting-edge technology, and human capital,” said Luis Belen, NHIT CEO.

“Now is the time to make inadequate access to healthcare and tele-health technology a thing of the past. For too long, elected officials have allowed the gap between rich and poor communities in access to adequate healthcare to grow. Tonight, we heard President Biden talk about targeted investments in infrastructure and people. Investments like increased broadband access, which will help address equity and health disparities in underrepresented communities. This is what community engagement and empowerment feels like. President Biden has not only raised the bar economically, but also through the appointments of a record number of public servants to key decision-making positions who look like, come from, and have a firsthand understanding of the communities they are working with. NHIT, as the premier convener of public, private, and nonprofit sector innovators in healthcare, health information technology, and digital health solutions for the under-served, is excited to support the important policy initiatives of this Administration.”
