Our History

NHIT has worked on issues such as broadband access, electronic health records, precision medicine, consumer health applications and disaster resiliency.

Our Mission

NHIT is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to engage underserved populations in the development and use of health information technology (HIT) as a means to support and sustain health equity and economic viability based on NHIT’s five pillars: Workforce, Innovation, Policy, Research, and Community.

Data Fusion Center

Through the Center, industry, academia, and communities can discover, explore, and visualize SDoH and health equity-related factors and their impact. Since its launch in January 2021, the Center has ingested, cleaned, and published over 2 Billion rows and 3,500 features (and counting) of traditional and non-traditional information.

The Alliance

NHIT and Sanitas largely recognized for their commitment to social justice and health equity, formed an alliance (the "Alliance") to offer a comprehensive model of healthcare that provides health equity, compassion and well-being to patients in underserved and rural communities.

Care Campaign

NHIT, with guidance from supporting partners, launched the NHIT Care Campaign® with the mission of restoring the health safety net for people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
